Outdoor Adventure

Kat Dunham – our full-time Resident Naturalist – stands ready to help you understand and appreciate Mountain Air’s many natural wonders. With a full schedule of nature hikes, birdwalks and enticing programs such as “Black Bears of the Appalachians” and “Salamander Safari,” the Naturalist helps everyone at Mountain Air appreciate our natural heritage and embrace the role we play in the environment.
Hiking
Whether you choose to hike, walk or camp, you’ll be rewarded by your close contact with the majesty of the mountains. Zigzag your way down log-lined paths and immerse yourself in the cool, quiet network of towering trees, fern-covered boulders and softly scampering wildlife. Our extensive hiking trails, scenic overlook pavilions and greenways connect you directly to the heart of the rugged mountain and the dense forests that blanket it.
Camping & Fishing
Networks of hiking trails spiral out from Mountain Air and lead you into the lush forests and neighboring mountain peaks and valleys. There’s no better way to discover the undisturbed serenity of the Blue Ridge Mountains than to follow one of these trails to a campsite, where you and your family can encounter animals, birds, and even rare plants.
Fishing is another favorite Mountain Air pastime. The many nearby lakes, rivers and streams teem with trout, brim and bass.
Kat, our Resident Naturalist, can help you map out a hiking route, find the perfect campsite, book a fishing guide or arrange a guided hike or trail ride.
Once the details are in place, our Outfitter Center can equip you for your mountain adventure.
